>> Court: I'm here at Practical Cycle in Old Town Sacramento. I'm here with Cassidy. How's
it going?
>> Cassidy: Great.
>> Court: And just checking out all the different light options, so you know, anyone who rides
their bike at night in some places, it's even a law. It's a good idea to have a light just
so you can be safe. And these days, there are a bunch of options, some of them have
LED's, some of them have reflectors built-in. And I just was going to get a quick overview
from Cassidy. So what do people go for and what do you recommend for a bike if you're
riding at night?
>> Cassidy: Well, the best case scenario is you have a generator or, you know, electric
bike with a battery and you can use these nice, you know European style lights.
>> Court: Oh, wow.
>> Cassidy: They really give you the right, you know, the light in the right places and
the right amount of it.
>> Court: So you can wire this right in like if you have an electric bike?
>> Cassidy: Certain electric bikes.
>> Court: Certain electric bikes. That's cool. So it really becomes part of that main battery,
you don't have to worry about replacing them like you do with some of these other options.
>> Cassidy: Yeah. The problem with these, even the rechargeable ones, you know, you
have to worry about people stealing them so you have to take them off.
>> Court: Take them off constantly.
>> Cassidy: It's kind of a hassle.
>> Court: Okay.
>> Cassidy: So the next best option would be to go for, you know, you can see these
are almost sold out, it's hard to keep them this time of year, so this is just a USB rechargeable,
you know, standard light set. I think these sell for $80 or $90 bucks.
>> Court: Okay. Front and rear, so...
>> Cassidy: Yeah.
>> Court: You know, that's cool. Usually it has a couple different settings for flashing
or whatever and the rear one's kind of the red, so it looks like a tail light on a car.
>> Cassidy: Yeah
>> Court: Okay.
>> Cassidy: We have several modes. Then the next kind of, what a lot of people will go for
this Planet Bike Blaze set has always been very popular and you kind of have your good,
better, best options there.
>> Court: Okay. And these ones just use like triple A's or something like that?
>> Court: Double A's in the headlights and triple A's in the rear lights, yeah.
>> Court: Okay. And then, you know, there's, I guess its been pretty popular in recent
years, there's like these flexible ones. You can just kind of put them on anything, hang
them off your backpack. What are those good for?
>> Cassidy: Well, those are kind of "be seen" lights. So they'll keep you legal and if you're
in the city where you don't really need to actually see ahead of you, then lights like
this are good just to, so cars and other cyclists can see you. This is something that's
kind of new. It's neat where it comes apart like that and then you just clip
on to the seatpost and handle bars.
>> Court: How cool was that?
>> Cassidy: Yeah.
>> Court: Yeah, it's kind of like Yin Yang symbol or something and you...
>> Cassidy: So people won't steal it, you take it with you and throw it in your pocket.
>> Court: That's the key. Well, yeah, you really went over it quite well. You know,
you try to build it in if you can, if not, you've got some nice USB chargeable ones.
So if you work in an office, you just plug it right in. And then, you know, your kind
of standard ones. This is awesome. Thank you so much, Cassidy. I appreciate it.
>> Cassidy: You're welcome.
