Hi, I'm Johan Svahnström on behalf of Expert Village. You need to get the right gecko for
a beginner if you haven't had one before. Try to avoid the real rain forest species,
such as the day geckos, and the flying geckos, and the leaf-tail geckos. They tend to be
difficult to maintain the humidity and also the feeding. They also need a lot of plants
and a lot of different things that you might not want to get for your first gecko. A perfect
gecko to get is a desert species, or a dry land species such as the leopard gecko or
an African fat-tail gecko. They're easy to maintain, they're easy to warm up, and they
eat readily in captivity.
