i think an apprenticeship is probably one fo the most important things you're going to do in
your career. Without that bit of paper your likely just to stay where you are.
As soon as I heard about the modern apprenticeships I thought this is going to be a turning point for
me
just a great start on the whole journey.
You don't really get a lot of choices when you leave school.
An apprenticeship combines college with on site experience.
You learn a trade that’s going to help you your whole life.
It’s a base of knowledge that you can always pick from and also it gives you the confidence to be able to do your job because you’ve been tested on it.
In the north east of Scotland especially
there’s a lot of skill shortages.
Apprenticeship is important for hands on experience; if people have been doing this for 30-40-50 years then they are like
a university as such.
I've never wanted to rest on my laurels, I always want to move on.
This give me an ideal opportunity
to bring my passion to life.
I’ve came a long way in a short space of time
and through every step to
junior operations manager, for me, I feel
is a huge achievement.
Apprentices bring a new lease of life to an organisation.
they bring new ideas but most importantly you gain communication.
There are so many skills that I have gained,
so much confidence.
I would love in ten years time to be owning my own company and be a very successful business woman hopefully.
The modern apprentice has given me a chance to get back into education and its given me a lot
confidence
There’s always a light at the end of the tunnel, don’t give up. If there is a modern apprenticeship there take it.
