The community at University Village is very much
a family oriented community.
There are so many
open people here and you can be yourself, and be whoever you want to be,
and have a great successful career here. Living at University Village is very fun,
fantastic, and great.
You meet so many new people here as well as you make lasting friendships.
The reason why University Village is unique is because it's very much so an
apartment style complex. There is so much freedom out here, as well as you get
the same interaction with residents, resident advisors; you get the same
community while being
a little bit more free out at University Village.
Brian is a resident of Chico State's University Village.
UV is the largest residential community at Chico State,
accommodating 620 returning and first-year students.
University Village is located
in the midst of Chico's college area, on approximately 10 acres about one
one mile from the campus core. It has a diverse mixture of students,
and was created to foster a larger community of students in a more appartment-
like setting.
Here we've got students entering their first semester right up to those who are
about to graduate.
University Village also has Themed Living Programs to enhance your academic life.
currently UV host the College of Agriculture themed community.
For first-year residents with us, a typical University village room setting is one
of two types:
a six-person cluster floorplan,
or a two-person Double Studio floorplan. For returning, transfer, or
exchange students,
University Village offers four-person cluster or two-person Double Studio
floor plans.
like all other Chico State residence communities, residents of the University
Village will enjoys fully furnished rooms, high-speed wireless internet,
air conditioning, cable television, and option to subscribe to telephone service
with voicemail.
Unlike other residents communities, University Village residents enjoy
access to the kitchen, and only have to share a common bathroom with one or two
other students. Compare that to thirty more at Whitney. It's a real step to independent,
off-campus living.
To help meld you academic and residential life, University
Village offers a computer lab, studying lounge, recreation room as well as on-site
laundry rooms. And unlike all other residence communities, University Village
is not close down during breaks. You can stay with us the whole time. For
recreational fun, there are two swimming pools, spa, and a new programming building for
community events and recreation. In this way, UV is the envy of all other
residential halls. One of the favorite features for residents is the
kitchen built into every cluster. This allows you to buy your own food and
prepare it in your own way.
But if you don't want to do all your own cooking, participation in a minimum
Residential Dining Program at Sutter Dining is mandatory for all of our residents.
Included in the price of accommodations each semester is a 75-meal block
which can be used at Sutter Dining.
Students can always purchase more meal blocks if they choose, at an additional cost.
For more information on the dining programs, take a look at your Living in Handbook
or the Residential Dining Plan video on our website.
They discuss some of the unique aspects of the residence dining programs.
Beyond the planning we put into the living experience and features, we take seriously our
commitment to student safety. That's why each resident is provided with a unique
room key for access to the main front door and their room.
It is resistant to copying or tampering.
Added to this is the fact that entire residence hall area of campus is patrolled regularly
patrolled regularly by University Police.
Finally, each building at University Village has a Residential Life Staff
representative. If you've got a problem, chances are they can help.
University Village is a mixture
of residence including
transfer students, international students, and first-time freshmen.
It is definitely very diverse and it contains lots of opportunities for leadership and
diversity involvement.
What I love about University Village is that
you have the safety and protection of resident advisors as well as the
opportunity to be your own individual.I love University Housing because they offer
great opportunities for leadership and growth.
They love to help their residents expand
in their knowledge and creaivity.
Living at UV was an amazing experience for me.
My first year out of high school I went straight to Chico State and stayed at
University Village, as a freshman.
Living at University Village is
an amazing experience because it's more of an independent style living.
You actually have your room lead to the outside; it's not down the hallway. So,
you have more freedom, it feels like. It is more of an apartment
style living. It's a little distance away from the campus core so University
Village is a great way to separate
home from school;
your math class isn't necessarily the building behind your room
your room. It is really nice to separate that and feel like you are actually going home
from school
