Michelle and Tasha Dever with Teacher Amy Young Captions
AMY YOUNG: We're gonna spend today talking about how Tasha's person center plan has helped
her plan what's going to happen through high school and as she became adult the type of
job she wanted and what she need to do to get there.
MICHELLE DEVER: It was really nice to have the different teachers and different family
members involved with Tasha. Because, starting off in preschool and kindergarten
we had teachers commenting about how she was and her development and then middle school
and high school the different teachers comments about how they perceived Tasha and what she
was strong in and we all had imputing and I think it really help for me to hear teacher
or to aunt or brother. To tell me how Tasha what they perceived of
what Tasha can. I think its enriching for a parent to say
"WOW! It's really nice that all this is about my child" and I think having center plan was
very enriching for me as a mother and for Tasha she was on top of the world and she
was like "It was all about her" and all her strengths and I think that really help her
to say how many people care about her. AMY YOUNG: And having a person center plan
talk about all the things she good at. It was just kinda dictated what she was doing
in her junior year and where she is now. When she was a sophomore she wasn't riding
a bus by herself and now she is just going to job site by herself on the bus.
Sometimes someone will bring up something and you will be like "Oh yeah I forgot" just
kinda of those stories that enriched her life and kinda made Tasha who she is and what she
was doing in middle school she might not have done for a long time and she all of a sudden
does it again in high school or what she does in school or how she does things at home are
completely different. So it’s nice to pull all the pieces together
to get a good picture of how Tasha is both in school and out of school.
