My name is Nicole Block of the Nic Studio. I do stationary and illustrations, and I specialize
in custom wedding invitations and special event invitations. My website is thenicstudio.com
and I'll be talking to you today about wedding invitations. Getting a custom wedding invitation
is a great way to make your wedding stand out and to really communicate what you want
to say about your wedding to your guests. This is something that costs more money, and
takes more time so plan ahead. Custom invitations are always more expensive so keep that in
your budget. And custom wedding invitations always take more time, usually about three
to five months so make sure you plan ahead or else you'll be paying really high rush
fees! Make sure you choose a designer who you really really love! I like a lot of information
from my clients. I want to know what the bride is wearing. I want to know where they're getting
married, I want to know the story of their courtship. I want to know everything about
them: their likes, their dislikes, the color preferences, everything. All of this helps
me figure out exactly how to put together their invitation. Don't be afraid to send
what ever crosses your mind to your designer. Schedule a meeting in person if at all possible
with your designer. You want to touch the papers, you want to look at the color swatches.
This is really important. You likely don't know all of your paper stocks, all of the
color swatches. What you see on the screen always communicates differently to what's
actually on paper. So that's it. Enjoy yourself, pick somebody you love, and go with the flow.
Tell them everything about you, and you'll be much happier with the results.
