The Advice Calculator can be accessed by logging into Degree Works through Self Service Banner,
the Student Portal, or by using the link on the website at www.sunyjcc.edu/degree-works.
To use the advice calculator, click the GPA calculator tab on top, and select advice calculator
from the left hand side of the screen.
The advice calculator will show how many credits must be earned at a certain grade point average
to achieve your desired GPA.
In this example, we'll get a student who has a current grade point average of 1.98, and
has already taken 32 credits. If this student desired a grade point average of 3.0,
he would need to achieve one of the 2 scenarios listed on the screen.
It's important to note that it might not be possible to reach your desired grade point
average with the number of credit hours you have remaining.
If this is the case, you'll see a message on the screen that states that based on the
information entered above, achieving the desired grade point average requires too many credits
to calculate.
To recalculate based on a different desired GPA, just hit the recalculate button and update
your numbers.
Please note that Degree Works calculators are tools for students, but none of the calculators
are an official GPA record. The only official JCC grade point average is found on the student's
academic transcript and not in Degree Works.
