Good afternoon. My name is Hung Nguyen,
and I came to the U.S. in 1992 from VIetnam. I barely spoke english.
Life was really, really hard then. Luckily, my brother, who sponsored me and my family,
told me that the only way to get ahead was education. So I listened to him.
Me and my younger sister joined the PCC program, and we both graduated in 1995.
I earned the associate's in automotive science technology,
and my sister also graduated and has worked at Intel for the last 16 years.
She has a very comfortable life, also. Myself, I worked around a couple dealerships in
Beaverton, as an automotive technician, but still my dream was to own a repair shop
and become my own boss. And finally, that dream came true,
and in 1999 I bought my first repair shop, and just last year I bought another building
and opened a second repair shop. And now I have twelve employees and life is so wonderful.
I also thank my wife here today. She was also a PCC student.
She finished her three year degree in MLT, medical lab technology.
Again, I would like to thank PCC, and this country,
who embraced me and gave me the opportunity to succeed. Without that support,
I don't know what my life in Vietnam would be. I would like to thankÉthe people,
everybody, especiallyÉI'm sorry. It's emotional.
Like I said, it changed my life, and it changed others because of education,
and because of PCC. I would like to congratulate the PCC 50 year anniversary,
and I am a very very proud PCC student. Thank you very much.
