Hello ladies and gentlemen! My name is Mikey Krajnak.
I am the American Sign Language coach for this show here at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
This show is entitled "Pippin". For those of you who are unfamiliar, is an amazing production and will be celebrating its 40th year.
It was written back in 1972 and was first performed on Broadway and had been for quite some time.
People all over had known the story of "Pippin", but the revival had yet to happen.
And so in came the A.R.T. and here we are reviving "Pippin" and it will be interpreted.
The story of "Pippin" is about a young boy whose father is a king.
And the young boy goes by the name of Pippin, and does not want to follow in his father's footsteps.
He'd like to decide his own way of life, his own destiny.
It is a musical with many familiar songs.
And the play itself as I mentioned is a musical, but there's a bit of a twist to this one…
Imagine if you will, two glasses of liquor.
This glass is Bob Fosse, the famous choreographer: "Chicago" "Cabaret" and several more.
So for those of you who's like a little bit of 'all that jazz', there's some of that here.
The other glass that we'll be enjoying is a bit of Cirque du Soleil.
For those of you who have not seen, it is one of the most amazing acrobatic productions.
Put a little bit of Bob, and a little bit of Cirque, mix 'em together and here you get "Pippin".
You will see the crazy, silly, amazing, jaw-dropping, drool-worthy production of "Pippin".
And what's wonderful about it is it's during the holidays. Doesn't matter if it's snowing or not,
come and love "Pippin" because, let me tell you, it will be like a drug… in a good way.
Come and join us!
