welcome
to IT Training's video on how to use Box at the University of Missouri
My name is Melinda Wolverson. let's get started.
In a web browser like Chrome, you'll go to box.com
and click Login. In the email username
box you will enter your email address at
missouri.edu- and then just simply click Login.
That will take you to the University of Missouri portal
Where you will type in your university username, alone,
not the email, as you might expect, and then the password you use
to get into your university accounts. Then click Login.
You'll then be in box
and can begin.
adding files and folders: in box you can upload either a folder,
or a single file. Let's upload a folder by
clicking the upload button. Then you'll need to browse to the folder that you
would like to use,
and once you have found it, you'll need to click okay.
It may take some time to load
that folder into the system, depending on the file size.
And so, over on the right hand side notice that your university colleagues who have
a box account are available on the right to find
Also, a little bit further underneath, notice
"success and training corner." That has several extra videos that box has made for
training purposes
to learn how to use box. If that's of interest,
you might want check that out as well. This will just take a little bit.
Notices as it is loading it is giving me how much it's loading
and now let's upload
a single file. This will be much faster. I'll click the Upload button again
and then select
upload files. I will then find the file,
just a random small picture, and say open.
Here it asks me if I want to upload more files.
I do not, so I'll simply click upload. It takes just a few seconds,
and then it's done. We have uploaded files.
Navigate and Delete. You can preview
either a file or folder from box by simply clicking on it. When you hover
over individual images
you'll get a small preview to the side, so you can decide if that's what you need.
If you click on it, as you see, you get a preview that image.
The X in the top right corner closes the preview and takes you back.
If you click on "All Files" at the top breadcrumb,
that takes you back to all files, your main folder. You can delete files from
here if you hover over the file,
and then click the checkbox next to that file.
Then you go up to the top, and then click the trash can at the top,
which appears once you have something selected.
When you click the Delete button,
it's not immediate. It does give you an "are you sure" message.
It takes a think, and then it says it was removed
Notice there is an undo button right here
Downloading a File from box to your computer
Downloading from box your computer is easy.
Simply, check the checkbox next to the item
you would like to download to your computer. Then click the down arrow.
The file will immediately be downloaded to your downloads folder on your computer
and will be accessible offline. You could also
download from a preview. If you preview the item,
in a top right hand corner there will be a down arrow there as well.
You can click on that arrow and it will work the same way as the previous arrow and
download your downloads folder.
If the arrow is greyed out, you do not have the permissions to download that
particular file.
Logging Out. Logging out of box is easy.
Click on the gear in the top right corner next your name.
Then click Log Out from the bottom of the drop down menu.
That will log you out of box securely
I hope this has helped you get started with box.
IT training has several other videos and we'll be adding more in the future.
