Went onto the website and then looked at my credit profile, and the reason for that was
in preparation for a mortgage application, and to review my account and see if there
were any problems with my credit file.
It was more reassuring for me to check and then know that when I was going to go for
a mortgage or bigger credit applications that there wouldn’t be any problems
I think I will keep using it, its useful just to remember what accounts you have had in
the past and who you’ve had cards with, if you’re looking to make a further application
with someone, how long ago did you have the card with them. And even simple things like
remembering where you lived, if you’ve moved several times.
I think if you don’t remember where you lived and you’re making an application,
and then it conflicts, you ‘re a couple of years out or the length of time you lived
somewhere and that conflicts with your Council register that will cause you problems when
you’re making applications for credit.
when you’re thinking about your financial situation and you want to keep yourself appraised
of where you are, then it’s a useful tool to go in and see what’s happening on your
file.
And certainly that‘s something that I’ve done in the past to renegotiate a mortgage
with my bank and I got a preferential rate on the basis of that, it was understanding
that you were a good credit customer to them.
understanding your credit position empowers you then when you’re talking with lenders
to negotiate reasonable terms and gives you an understanding of what position in the market
you can approach in terms of where you’re seeking credit from credit providers to make
sure you’re getting the best deal and if not you can negotiate the best deal with them.
