Your neighbor's tree limb has fallen on your roof and has created damage, and when you
went next door to talk about it, your neighbor said it is your problem. Hello, I am Robert
Todd, and I am here to help you answer the question, how do I file a lawsuit. Well, in
these circumstances, you may want to try to resolve this with your neighbor first by simply
going over to your neighbor's house and approaching them and trying to discuss it in a reasonable
and calm fashion. If that does not work, you might want to consider involving a mediation
process. Many counties and many states have free mediation services whereby a neutral
third party listens to the parties of the dispute and tries to assist the parties in
resolving that dispute. And if mediation does not work, than you may want to consider whether
you have to file a lawsuit, and then when you come to that question you may want to
consider whether you want to hire a lawyer, or whether you want to try to do it yourself.
If it is a simple lawsuit, it is something that may be filed in small claims, you may
simply be able to use the assistance of the clerk to file. If it is something beyond small
claims, you may want to seriously consider hiring a lawyer. I am Robert Todd, and thank
you for watching.
