Asalaamu Alaikum
Now I was sitting and pondering, like I normally do.
Stay humble.
And it just came to me. Batman should be a Muslim.
Now I know what youíre thinking.
Have you been drinking Zamzam again? Well yeah.
Now come on, he should accept Islam because; well heís nearly there isnít he?
Heís got all the traits; all he needs to do is just read the shahadah.
Now we all know who batman is.
Come on, donít look at me like that, you know this was coming.
Donít worry thatís out the way now. We can carry on.
I know what some of you gonna be thinking.
Why is he talking about Batman?
Thereís so many other things he could be talking about.
Yes there is. But wisdom is a believers lost property, wherever he finds it, he takes it.
Now, why Batman out of the other mans?
Well, heís the only one who doesnít have a super power.
So we can easily relate to him.
So he lives in a city called Gotham,
he sees all this crime and corruption going on and he feels helpless.
He canít do anything using his own face because well heís got
A certain image, heís the boss, heís the one with the dodo, the momo, the peas.
So now the question arises. What does he do?
And how is it similar to the teachings of Islam?
Number 1. He decides to travel for knowledge and find his true self.
He leaves his locality and he leaves the monies.
Now whatís the lesson? Well travelling for knowledge
is something which Muslims have been doing for centuries.
Its part of our teaching. Theres more barakah (blessing)
In that knowledge which you learn after travelling.
Teacher,
I'm here for my lesson
Ohhh youíre too late son, youíre too late. Go back.
Number 2. He learns from a teacher called Ras al Gul, I know, it sounds a bit weird.
Despite his sinister and weird views,
he still treats him with respect and learns from him.
As a Muslim weíre taught to respect our teachers, regardless of them being
Muslim or non Muslim. The fact is theyíre disseminating knowledge to you.
Yes I used a big word.
Number 3, he wants Gotham to be a better place.
He doesnít just sit on his arm chair and just point fingers at other people.
He says no. Itís gots to be me.
You see all these problems happening in the ummah, youíre doing nothing.
Youíre just hanging about in the middle of the forest doing nothing.
Youíre not even branching about. Youíre just standing.
Why donít you do something eh? Ahh silent treatment!
You know what, Iíve had enough, im gonna make like a tree and leave (leaf)
So whats the lesson? Lesson is, in Islam weíre taught not to sit and complain
But to get off our backside and do something ourselves.
Number 4. Now despite all the good he does any regular person would
Love to take credit for it.
Yeah, itís mean batman. Yeah, can I get some large fries now,
I wont be paying because well, Iím batman.
So he doesnít take credit for it but he puts on a mask to hide his identity.
So someone who does good, and doesnít reveal himself
That is the essence of humility.
Prophet (s.a.w) said ìWhen you give charity,
give that youíre right hand is giving but youíre left hand doesnít even knowî
Heís been given wealth, skills, resources, heís not a large man, you understand
He doesnít have a bit of aÖyou know, do they understand?
Well if Batman was fat, he would become Fatman isnít it?
So heís using all of this for the betterment of society.
So whats the lesson? The lesson is that in Islam weíre taught our bodies are
A loan to us from Allah. Allah has given each and every individual some quality
That can be used in the deen.
So whatís your talent then?
For real man? Yeeah, whatís wrong with that?
The next point, point number 6, he has certain rules and principals
Which he adheres by. One principal is that he doesnít kill people,
he doesnít use guns. Thatís his principle and he sticks by it.
Lesson, well if that is his own principal and he believes in it so much
Then as Muslims our rules and principals come from Allah
They why donít we adhere to them more than this Batman.
Donít worry sorry, last time, this is the last time.
Seventh and final point. He only speaks what is necessary and then he just disappears.
Well the Prophet (s.a.w) said ìSilence is salvationî
ìHe who remains silent has saved himself î
Many arguments begin because we canít keep our gobs shut.
So hereís some nice advice from me. Shut it. What do you means thatís offensive.
Now on a serious note. We all wish to have super powers.
If you want to see a true superpower, look at a widow,
who brings up her children by herself and doesnít re-marry.
Or look at that guy, who does farming morning and evening
Blood, sweat and tears for his children just so they can get a decent education.
Or that husband and wife who stay together for the sake of their children
So that their children wonít come from a broken home.
Ask that guy who was addicted to cigarettes
but yet he plucks up the courage to give them up.
These things are super powers and we have these.
So in reality its kind of like we are super heroes ourselves.
We want all these special super powers, like flight, I wanna fly
Well just get on an aeroplane isnít it?
I want invisibility. Well if you want invisibility just hide behind that couch.
I want super speed. Well sit in a very fast car.
But the things I mentioned before they take true guts
and they are the real super powers.
Now that weíve established that you and me are super heroes.
Remember Mr or Mrs Superhero. With great power comes great responsibility.
Donít even think about doing these outtakes, Iíll kill you.
Ahhh (strange sound on repeat)
Iíll kill you
