What's going on everybody! Welcome to
today's video on the network+.
My name is Jack Jenkins and this is Academy of One.
Today we're going to be talking about DNS
recorders. In this video, we're going to be talking about
SOA and NS, then
we're going to be discussing
CNAME and PTR
after that, we're gonna be talking about
MX and triple a or
quadruple a, sorry and that will be it.

SOA or start of Authority is
a file on the DNS nameserver
that's states weather this DNS is the best
DNS to gather this information.
The SOA has recorded data such as
administration details such as the admins email
address so you can contact them incase anything
bad happens. The NS or nameserver
is a location of the nameserver
for your website. It stores
the information for that nameserver in the domain. For instance,
when you visit a site, it gathers
information from that nameserver.
Of course, it is better to have two name
servers, if you ever lanched a site say on
namecheap or godaddy or anything like that.
Then of course you had to input the
nameservers.

CNAME or canonical name is when you have
a domain name that is routed
to another domain name. For instance,
if you go to say
www.academyofone.com. There is
actually a cname that will route that to
www.academyofone.org.
That way if you accidently put .com it will just
reroute it to a .org.
PTR or pointer is
pretty much the same thing as a conical name
except the DNS does not follow through. Meaning it
returns just the name. And the reason why
you would have one of these is for DNS
lookup. Do a little research on DNS lookup for
more information.

MX or mail exchange
stores information for were your mail server
is and were you should send email to.
now if any of you guys has ever set up
a mail server, you've delt with this before.
The triple a is the IPV6
address of that
server. Now, there's a
lot more to IPV6 so
that's why I announced the IPv6 series that
I currently working on. Within the series we'll discussed
aaaa a whole
lot more. So stay tuned for that.
That's it for today's video on DNS
recured. Tune in next time for when I'm gonna be talking about
simple network management. Alright guys,
time for the plugs. You can go ahead
and visit academyofone.org. Go ahead and
subscribe to the youtube channel. Go ahead and ask any
questions at all to jack@academyofone.org
and last but not least. go ahead and
