Once you've been put on a programme of study at South Birmingham College we know that you
are capable of achieving that qualification but we recognise that a lot of our students
would benefit from extra support in their studies. Additional Learning Support is a
team of people and set of resources to help our students achieve their qualification.
There are a number of different ways in which we do it.
We have in-class support: that's where teaching assistants work one to one with students in
the classroom. There's the Learning Development Centre is
where learning support assistants help students to work on their assignments.
And there's the specialist support for people who have dyslexia and other conditions that
require extra help. And we have a team of Communication Support
Workers for deaf and hearing impaired students. Ian is a learner support assistant in the
Hall Green campus. Here in the learning development centre students can come in for on-going help
to develop their English and maths or they can come in for drop in sessions for help
with their assignments. We make sure all students at South Birmingham
College know that there is extra support and help available.
Student Services is a team of people and set of resources available to all students. We
are committed to helping you stay healthy; stay safe; enjoy and achieve; get involved
in the community and prepare you for the world of work.
