Please find this product at http://absupply.net/ This video is to bring you a closer look at
the Pemko 345DV. This is a dark bronze anodized aluminum door bottom or door sweep with a
drip cap, an integrated drip cap. Lets dissect that part number a little bit. "345" is representative
of the fact that this is an aluminum extrusion with an integrated drip cap. 'D" stands for
the dark bronze anodized finish and the "V" stands for the fact that the seal material
here is made of vinyl which is a standard builder's quality type item. This is a very
typical and very common door sweep that you are going to see in residential applications.
Front doors of homes will very typically have this color combination, the material combination,
and the drip cap. Commercial hollow metal doors, you will see this on, aluminum store
front doors you will see this on. The drip cap is an extremely effective method by which
to help prevent water from being able to pool and collect underneath of the threshold of
the door so to speak. It is just proven that people that make a living installing doors
and weather stripping, they insist on it quite frankly. A lot of people absolutely insist
on having a drip cap. If it is an inswing door and it likely is if it is residential
you will need to notch the face of the drip cap around your stop naturally but other then
that, it is a very typical sort of sweep. A very generous height on the vinyl and I
like this feature of this 345 because the vinyl actually comes back up and tucks onto
the backside of the extrusion itself. It helps prevent rain from getting behind there as
well. What happens occasionally is and it wouldn't really help with this extrusion but
you could have a little area between your screw holes where there is an imperceptible
belly in the aluminum extrusion where it bellies out a little bit. Not this one, this is so
sturdy there is almost no flex but the fact that the vinyl tucks to the face of the door
as well really is a two sided sort of approach to really keeping water outside of the door.
Dimensionally, there is an image below this video showing everything important about this
door sweep. You can see that the overall height of the extrusion is 1-1/2". You've got a 9/16"
projection, less common but none the less but less critical to know but there you go,
9/16". Vinyl is 1/2", looks short here but let me take a look at it and confirm the drawing
is accurate. No, it is definitely accurate, just a funny way that the tape measure is
looking in the camera. This is available in typical finishes as gold, painted white, aluminum
mill finish, and of course the dark bronze. Screws are included in a complementary finish.
They are going to be typical 6 x 5/8" sort of screws. If you have need for a custom length
by all means let us know by ordering the next longest piece or pieces and indicate in the
comment field what length you would like for us to cut the material back to. The reasoning
is if you had to take this 42" piece, forgive me this is a 48" piece and cut it down to
say 42" you would eliminate that slotted hole there and the next one is all the way over
here. It is nice to have a slotted hole because it is going to give you the ability to ever
so slightly adjust for a sill that may not be level, or a door that is not hung plumb,
and when you are drilling into steel or wood or aluminum or fiberglass, the drill bit has
a tendency to walk a little bit if you have not used a center punch before the drill bit
pieces into it when you are pre drilling the holes. So that slotted hole really is a lifesaver
as well if your hole is just a little bit off. So if you have need for a custom length,
by all means let us know by ordering the next longest piece or pieces and indicate in the
comment field what length you would like for us to cut the material back to and that is
how we will ship it out. Pemko is a full line manufacturer of all things commercial weather
stripping related in both commercial and residential categories along with manufacturing metal
vision frames for use in wood and metal doors and of course sliding door track and hardware.
