What does it take to become a broadcast journalist? I'm Glenn Selig and I spent two decades as
a broadcast journalist and now I'm CEO of Selig Multimedia. It takes a lot of hard work
to become a broadcast journalist and in some ways it's sort of like joining a fraternity
or a sorority. There's a lot of testing that goes on as you work your way up, as you become
a more successful broadcast journalist. You might have to work in very small cities in
parts of the country that you never thought you'd visit, let alone live in. But, that's
all part of it and you have to have a curiosity about lots of things in life. You'll meet
people. You'll talk to people. You'll see things that you never thought that you'd ever
get a chance to see. And one of the more serious things that you might get a chance to see
that most people don't is somebody who has died. I remember one of the first times when
I saw somebody who was dead on the street after covering a news story. That was pretty,
you know, that was something very serious. And that makes you who and what you are. So,
you have to be prepared for all sorts of things. Those sad things, but also lots of happy things.
So, it takes a lot of hard work, a lot of curiosity, and a lot of perseverance in order
to become a broadcast journalist. I'm Glenn Selig.
