Now, let's hear what the frontline staff have
to say about the merger.
♪♪♪
I would say empower the worker at the bedside.
There are so many fabulous staff members.
They're not all--I mean, the ones I know are a lot
in nursing, but there's RTs, there's PCTs, there's people
who do the hands-on care at the bedside who have fabulous
ideas of how we can make things better.
And if you feel you're listened to, it really is so much more
rewarding to come to work, do what you do, watch these
changes happen, and it's just such an empowering
and powerful feeling.
So I would encourage them to listen to these care providers
at the bedside.
I think one of the things we should keep as we merge
and as we go forward is keeping the staff informed and being
involved, because a lot of the frontline staff, they're the
ones who do the practical work, so they are the ones who know
what the problems are.
And as a resource, we can all resolve those issues once
0:01:12.370,0:01:16.390 we stay together and be part
of giving that feedback.
Keep respecting the employees, listen to them,
and we have lots of ideas, very good ideas,
and we really stick to it.
We are very loyal to the organization,
and I'm a classic example.
I came here and I never left! 'til I retire!
I think as we go forward with the merger, I would
suggest that we look at the best practices at both
organizations and see how can we merge those to make
something not just great, but something brilliant
for the new organization.
I think the one thing that I really enjoy about Trillium
and would really hope to see continue on in the new
organization is the ability to consistently learn and grow and
try new things, and always be given opportunities to expand
your current role and to be involved in different projects.
Gives you a sense of accomplishment and ownership
and self-satisfaction.
Try to keep the lines of communication open
between the frontline staff and the senior management.
It's important because it allows for a lot of the feedback,
you know, from the frontline, and in order to set
new strategies and initiatives, you need to have that feedback.
So keeping those lines of communication open
is imperative.
Growing together as a large hospital, I hope that we
could see better access to technology.
Being in a department that deals with a lot of
information, we need to get that information out to end
users, and I look forward to some opportunities where we can
get some great ideas, get technology on our side,
and showcase a lot of the work and the skills
that we now have together.
I think that their culture is the same as ours, in that they
want to do what's best for their community.
I mean, we're becoming an academic centre, and we all are
very proud of the work that we do here, whether it's at
Trillium or Credit Valley.
And I think that we are gonna work very well together.
