RYAN LARSON: Now, we're going to take our shaker again and do our basic pattern but
now we're going to put some what's called a curve into it, where you just move hand
up and you move it up quick and lightly bring it back. And what the balls essentially do
is they roll up the side and come over, almost like a wave if you can imagine a wave motion
in the inside of the shaker. It goes under like that and falls over and you get this.
So you got 1-2-3-and. Oh, I'm not getting it. There it is. And you can hear it moving
over and it takes a lot of time and concentration to really get it down so that every time you
can do it perfect. It's easy to get that done if you're using the big shaker. It's a lot
easy on the big shaker. Again, what you're doing is essentially you're moving the shaker
and you're slowly bringing it back and it makes a wave motion inside the shaker which
gives you a nice sound effect.
