Hi! I'm Travis Connelly from the state certified fire-fighter and on behalf of Expert Village,
this is basic fire safety. Include in your safe exit plan, you should have a meeting
place. This meeting place should be easy to access by all and everybody should know where
it is in times of need. The safe meeting place should be far enough away so that it is not
too hot and that you won't have any problems with the burning house. The other problems
you might want to consider are the fire trucks that might have to come in. You don't want
to cross any roads that might be dangerous to your children. The open area should be
large enough for all of your family and should be easy to assess and everybody should be
remembering. You should practice and meeting at this place maybe once or twice a year.
You should practice this annual drill as a family, a group and maybe as individuals so
that the children can remember exactly where the location is in case they have to do this
on their own.
