Hi! I’m Jim Mckelvey with Third Degree Glass Factory in St. Louis. You can check us out
on the web at www.stlglass.com. Today we’re going to learn about glassblowing for expertvillage.com.
As you can see, this piece is not really on center, but that’s okay because I’m planning
to spin this out, so I really don’t care if everything is perfectly even. In fact,
a little bit of unevenness will make it more interesting. That’s why I recommend this
a good beginner’s project, because not only does it make it an interesting piece, but
it also is a piece that’s very tolerant of any little mistakes that you might make.
So, the last thing we’re going to do before we spin this out is we’re going to put on
what’s called a lip wrap. Fern is going to heat up a red piece of color. We’re going
to wind that around the lip of this piece. All I’m doing right now is waiting for Fern
to tell me that that color is warm. I can’t just sit there. I’ve got to keep the piece
itself hot, so that the punty doesn’t crack.
