What do we want from our ICT in school? We want it to be fun, exciting, with the latest
stuff to help us learn. I use so much ICT at home, I'd like to
use it at school. I'd like to learn from games, and share ideas
with my friends.
As teachers we need a stimulating and relevant Computing curriculum which will help our children
become confident, independent users of technology.
The new Herts for Learning Computing scheme has been designed to support the teaching
and development of Computing capability.
The scheme is fully aligned with the 2014 Computing Curriculum and covers the programming
aspect in depth. Part of the approach is to embrace unplugged activities to support children
in understanding key Computer Science concepts.
The scheme also links to real world use of technology and promotes safe and responsible
behaviours.
Each term teachers are provided with a set of progressive and challenging learning objectives
as well as a suggested independent activity.
many schools have already commented on the useful approach to assessment in the scheme
and find the regular updates helpful in ensuring they keep their Computing curriculum up to
date.
