Welcome back to the Installing Oracle Endeca Information Discovery v3.0 screencast series.
This is the beginning of Part 4. In this screencast, we’ll install WebLogic Server.
If you would like to reference written instructions for the steps demonstrated in this screencast, view the Oracle Endeca Information Discovery
Getting Started Guide in our documentation. You can also view the transcript for this screencast, available on YouTube.
After downloading the installation packages and installing the JDK, you install WebLogic Server.
We will install only the minimum WebLogic Server configuration needed for Oracle Endeca Information Discovery.
An optional step at this point in the process is to verify that java is running with the ‘java –version’ command.
If the version is printed out, you’re in good shape.
At this point, you’re running the public JRE, that should have been installed per the instructions of the previous screencast.
From a command prompt, navigate to the directory where you placed the jar file.
Then launch the installer by typing java –jar wls1036_generic.jar.
The Welcome page of the installation wizard displays Click Next.
On the next page, select the ‘Create a new Middleware Home’ option, accept the default location, and click Next.
To bypass the Register for Security Updates page, click Next without entering an email address.
On the ‘Email Address Not Specified’ dialog, click Yes. Click Yes again to confirm you are sure.
On the ‘Connection failed’ dialog, check ‘I wish to remain uninformed of security issues in my configuration or the machine has no Internet
access’ and click Continue.
On the ‘Choose Install Type’ page, select Custom and click Next.
On the ‘Choose Products and Components’ page, check the following products: Core Application Server
Administration Console Configuration Wizard and Upgrade Framework Evaluation Database
Then click Next.
On the ‘JDK Selection’ page, verify that the JDK you installed is selected and click Next.
If that version of JDK is not selected, under Local JDK, browse to and select the directory that contains the JDK.
The Local JDK section is updated to display the selected JDK with a checked box next to it. Click Next.
On the ‘Choose Product Installation Directories’ page, accept the default installation directory and click Next.
If the ’Install Widows Service’ page displays, click No and click Next.
If the ‘Choose Shortcut Location’ page displays, click a radio button to select the location of the Windows shortcut, then click Next.
On the ‘Installation Summary’ page, verify that you are installing the correct products, and click Next.
On the ‘Installation Complete’ page, uncheck the Run Quickstart checkbox, and click Done.
In this screencast, we installed Weblogic. In the next screencast in the series, we will install Oracle ADF Runtime that we downloaded in an
earlier screencast.
