a Kentucky team has chosen to sit out a race
rather than compete with the number 666 on her bid
which had been randomly assigned to her because it is as you know lou is the
mark of the beast
too many Christians a southeast Kentucky teen according to rush story refused to
run
inter-regional cross-country race after officials declined to give her a
different number
okay this is Cody backer she said she was assigned baby number 666
many Christians associate this with the biblical
anti-christ or Satan she said I just don't believe that sick sick sick should
be a number that is anywhere on your body
and I did not want that number associated with me it made me kind of
sick
Christians believe it can be a harbinger of the apocalypse or
just a bad thing there is this I
and there's actually a name for the extreme fear the number 666
it's called except ko CO now I'm sorry
exe ko CO we have sick on to hex a phobia
I I don't know if I got that right in any case
the craziest part about this is that the race officials actually said
her objecting to the number based on religious grounds
is legitimate we didn't issue her a new number because we didn't understand
that the objection to 666 was religious
we actually have made other adjustments the uniform code based on
religious issues we just didn't know that that's what what the issue was
how far does this go I'm I don't want to be little the girl right
it's not really her fault that she believes she might go to hell
if she races with Dad number 666 it's probably been touching her at some point
okay
but how far does this go if you go to the local Mexican food place a lot a
taco joint Louis when you get
and we make in order they say your order number 242
your order number for fifty what if your order number 666
do you ask for different order number do you
just not pick up the food do you leave like how far does this really go
I don't know are phobias by definition a rational
iron out this one this one's pretty odd in pretty rare
are bite hey we all have our quirks right
yeah and the other thing is how far with the race Commission go in accommodating
people for example if you say listen
I it is a rip your Lee religious objection i cant race against Jews or
Muslims
certainly the race commission doesn't just make any accommodation because the
racial issues writer what if
he says you know there was pork served
at the tent that at you know there's there's going to be pork served
at the post-race tent we can't have that because
II won't race if we have that because I'm Jewish and I don't eat pork
I just don't know how far these accommodations are are expected to go
and I'm not asking the question rhetorically I'm curious
how far how far did they go I imagine not very far
I it's really up to the the people holding a race n changing the number on
a shirt is probably no big deal for them but I doubt the going inconvenience
themselves for
for something now like what you mentioned are ever going to take a break
yesterday on the show i misspoke I know
it doesn't happen that often only about every show but this one was kinda funny
examples are gonna play that for you
we're going to talk about rush limbaugh we've got Glenn Beck
self-driving cars interesting developments with self-driving cars
of course your voicemails are coming up a lot happening on this Thursday show
