There have been strong objections
to an application to the Liquor Licensing Authority
to open a Liquor outlet on Sunset Road in Rotorua.
This is ironic, as the Rotorua District Council
discussed liquor laws today.
We were not permitted to film people
making their submissions in Chambers
to the Liquor Licensing Authority.
However, in these chambers at 11am this morning
community members will be make their submissions
to the Liquor Licensing Authority.
Those making submissions and their supporters
from the Fordlands and Sunset district
gathered to make their case against the application
of Harman Trading for a licence to open and operate a liquor outlet.
The group also made reference
to how close Sunset Primary School and other schools in this area are
to the site of the proposed liquor outlet.
Whether their submissions are successful or not,
this is bound to be a battle with no end.
