On this Memorial Day more concerns and questions tonight about the childhood
cancer cluster in Sandusky County.
Dozens of people came together to hear more about a lawsuit against the
Whirlpool Corporation. Tim Miller live now with the new details, Tim...
Yeah Jerry and Emilie a lot of people took time out of their memorial day holiday today
to come out here to Fremont Ross High School tonight
and hear more about a lawsuit cancer cluster families filed against Whirlpool
two weeks ago. Now the attorneys for those families invited everyone involved
in the lawsuit plus
anyone from the public. The lawsuit alleges Whirlpool and Clyde is
responsible for the numerous childhood cancer cases
because it dumped chemicals at the former Whirlpool Park
and also allegedly deposited the cancer-causing chemical
Benzaldehyde in the air they got into the attics inside homes.
Now the attorneys told us tonight they have received several calls from people
who are not their clients. People worried they also came down with cancer
or had a loved one who did because of Whirlpool
we found some of them at tonight's town hall meeting. Well Clyde
originally
I live in Fremont now but my son had cancer at 27
and we had already moved from Clyde
I just wanna know what's going on...
People just they they wanna know and this know and this now is their chance and
this is the first time that other people have had a chance
you know to ask questions in a public in a public way.
No representatives from Whirlpool attended tonight's town hall meeting but
one of their top executives told us last week that
there is no scientific evidence that Whirlpool is responsible for these cancer
cases.
Reporting live tonight in Fremont I'm Tim Miller.
