Cowgirls N' Angels is the story of Ida, a young girl looking for her father who was raised by a single mom.
And she comes across a group
of female drill
team that runs around performing at different rodeos. So she figures her father was a former rodeo star, so it's a great
way for her to see a bunch of different rodeos and see if she can locate her father. She knows her father's name is
Walker, so she literally hooks up with this drill team and
goes around to different rodeos looking for her father, all the while not realizing he's changed his name.
She finds herself.
She finds a family to take care of her, which is this drill team, and she actually realizes in the end that her dad's been
there taking care of her all along.
We came to Stillwater looking specifically for a backdrop of rodeo. This entire film is set
against a backdrop of rodeo and we needed a country setting. We wanted a country setting
and Oklahoma actually has a huge film incentive
that we wanted to tap into and utilize. We made a couple of phone calls. We found out OSU has a rodeo team and
one thing led to another and suddenly
we're in Stillwater spending
millions of dollars making a movie.
The town has turned out in full force. We had 400 or 500 people show up just to see what's going on as part of our
rodeos that we do.
The chamber has been wonderful. The convention and visitors bureau has been a huge player in what we're doing here.
The rodeo team at OSU has been a huge player in what we're doing.
It's just amazing having so many people with a common goal.
