This initiative is called The Hand of the Architect.
It has involved 110 architects from Italy and abroad
asked to donate their architectural drawings
for Villa Necchi Campiglio
for the architect Piero Portaluppi
to the FAI - the Italian Environmental Fund
by direct invitation.
The initiative attracted over 378 drawings
collected here at Villa Necchi Campiglio
in the Triennale Bovisa
and at the offices of the magazine Abitare...
the organisation of three shows
that will be open until 10 May
the production of a catalogue
published by Moleskine and Abitare Segesta
all to collect funds
for the work on Villa Necchi Campiglio by Portaluppi.
The collected material recounts the design process
and in the variety of these materials
we can see the first steps in the design
with the first sketches and drafts, the first design ideas
right up to the working drawings
specific details of the design
in solutions in the design issues
right up to the construction phase.
Milanese architecture is made of mistakes
it's made of everything we find in these drawings.
It is made of mistakes in the best sense of the word
in other words the fact that the process is gradual
that the design phases are shown in the drawings
so in small steps
through small signs, small gestures
which accompany the design and the design stages
not through violent acts, imposed actions of force
but through small shared processes.
Perhaps these sketches can help us find
the steps in the design process that were lost.
A creation that takes place in time, a creation that takes place
in small phases
which may be accompanied, shared.
In these sketches and these drawings we often see rethinking
there are discussions with the customer
discussion between the architect
and those who will subsequently live
and perceive the architectural design.
