Dear friends and Internet users of d'IvoirTV.net, I am delighted to be here again with you.
I am with an artist, a great artist, who happens to be in Ivory Coast right now..
He is going to present himself, and I am going to interview him. Hello.
Hi ! This is Dibi Dobo ! One love, Ivory Coast, I love you.
So how are you doing ? Fine and you ?
Very well thank you. So Why are you here today ?
I made a small trip, to discuss business with lots of people. I am signing a new contract
with the producer David Monsoh. With Obo Music, if I am not mistaken. So I'm relaxed. I am
analyzing the situation as I am preparing a Dibi Dobo live concert anytime soon. So
I came to take a look and launch my new single " Kinklin ". My new soundtrack is called Kinklin,
and it's already a success. That's why I am here. And also because Ivory Coast is so to
say my second country. So, tell us a little about your carreer.
So, Dibi Dobo, is a Beninese artist, who is going his own way. I started in 2000 with
the rap group Def Lyrix and in 2009 I started a solo carrer. I've issued my single Wini
Wini, which helped me sign with the production house Nouvelle Donne Musique. They did steer
me to impose myself. Today, my contract came to an end, so I am preparing myself with Abo
Music in England. I am about to sign a new contract. We're working on it. I received
lots of offres, but that's the one I prefered. Dibi Dobo, which is your type of music ? Pop,
Coupé Décalé, rap ? What I do is World Hip-hop, you see. My style
is, that I can sing anything. Starting with Zinli from Benin, décalé coupé from Ivory
Coast, I am flexible. But what makes me different is my voice and the style with which I sing.
So I think I can say that my style is " Dibitics ". It's a new style I want to set new standards
with , show to young people that are going to follow us in the future, like we did with
Bob Marley, Mickael Jackson, like others did with Douk Saga.
What do people think of you in Benin ? Even being modest, I must say they really
like me. They often call me the Prince of the Nation. They do like me indeed. People
don't criticize me. They like me. It's my country. That's where I come from. They are
proud of me, and around the world. How long have you been singing and doing music?
I could say ever since I was a child, but in fact, it's only in 2008-09 that I thought,
I want to make a career in music. So that's the point when I joined the " Game ". I was
doing music for fun, I was shy. From 2000 onwards with my rap group, we tried to our
best. But at that point, I thought, I really have to go this way for good. So I started
working likre crazy, and we're at that point today.
How many albums have you published ? One for now. I've issued exclusively single
at an international level. I don't have an international album for now. But I have one
in Benin, that's why poeple know me : I have singles like Wini Wini, Tchitchavi, 12500
volts with Yorobo, which is my budy for real, and a featuring with Singuila, which is called
African Fiesta, and Kenzah Farah in " Tous de la fête " which played on Fun Radio in
France and was a hit on MTV channels, all of that.
Would you sing something for us ? Don't try faking
Please baby, don't try faking No, no, no, oh, don't try faking
Please Baby, don't try faking. Ah, you see that ? That's excellent, that's
Dibi Dobo. So the interview is also over. One last word?
My last word is : God bless Africa. I am launching my new single Kinklin. Enjoy listening to
it very quickly ! So lets go for this morning's prayer : I ask God to give us the strenght
to go forward. Going forward, thanks to God, we want change in our lives. When you are
Colonel, you want to be more powerfull, when you are the President of Ivory Coast or Benin,
you want to become President of the World. That's wghat life is about. So you ask god
to bring you forward. This song is here to inspire us, so we can move forward. You have
to listen to it. It's called Kinklin. The Lord is my sheperd, I shall not want.
The Lord is my shperd, I shall not want. Dibi Dobo Soyimavo.
