Water is a necessity,
but some families are struggling to pay their water bills
due to low income.
But perhaps a new programme can help with that.
Here's Raiha Johns.
While we're concerned about the lack of rain,
Maori families in Auckland
are worried about paying their water bills.
We pay $200 a month for water.
We're breaking the bank to pay that.
Last year, Watercare launched a water utility assistance trust
to help families struggling to pay their water bills.
But the issue is most people aren't aware of the Watercare fund.
Water usage is kept on a leash in case there's a huge bill.
We were completely surprised to hear about it.
It's great!
That sounds like a bit of a push
to have Watercare promote this assistance.
