The skills that we are looking for is people who have patience and an open mind and just
a willingness to help. What made you come to the Volunteer Fair today? Well I always
wanted to give back to the community. It's easy to send them emails but it's very nice
to be able to talk to them and actually get some kind of info from them that you can't
necessarily over the website. I don't have much volunteer experience so today I hope
to look around what kind of experience they provide. We are recruiting for our build site
volunteers, they don't need any experience so don't let that be intimidating if you've
never swung a hammer. We are currently building in Sutton and in Keswick so it's a little
bit of a hike. I really like the Toronto Public Library volunteer so that one and also there's
this other one with helping youth who don't have homes and stuff like that so it's just
reaching out to those kids. Youth assisting youth. Youth assisting, yeah. I've gone through
stuff too. I thought I might as well just share my experience with someone and have
an opportunity to be a mentor. They give you really good opportunities for self improvement
and just chances to get involved in your community. I know some friends that, let's say, volunteered
with Youth Assisting Youth and he received scholarships. Very good, especially if you
want to be a leader some day and just gain experience as well because there's several
groups, for the library, ending hunger, kids, mentorship, it's like everything for everyone.
Head over to the Career Centre if you didn't get to make it here. Head over because they
have a lot of great stuff there. 202 McLaughlin College. Awesome!
