NeighborWorks week is an opportunity to get out into residents
homes and actually help out. You know get out from behind our computers,
make a difference in the lives, and see a tangible difference that we make in the lives
of the people that we serve.
NeighborWorks Week
is an opportunity
to engage the community.
It also means engaging community organizations, like Home Depot.
Organizations that we don't normally work with
intimately on a daily basis.
And it also means interacting with people in the community
that are in need,
and who need a helping hand.
Everybody needs help.
I don't care if you're a multi-millionaire,
if you're
very low income.
There's always a need. Somebody that needs help.
It's just one way of giving back,
and these two patients seemed like they were a good fit for us and for Community Housing Partners
to help out.
These two homeowners,
they both suffer from multiple sclerosis, which means that they have a lot of
mobility issues. They have difficulty doing things around the house
because of their physical limitations. Community Housing Partners was able to line up some
of the volunteers. And with the help from Home Depot and some other resources, we were able
to get some donated materials. But it's great to be able to help this woman, Madeline, great to build a to help this woman,
Madeline, get a sidewalk down, before she had to take her
wheelchair through the yard, over tree roots, through the grass, through puddles. You know, being
able to come out here and lay down a brick sidewalk is incredibly meaningful.
For Larry, being able to get a bathroom on the floor that he spends most of his
day on, and just helping them out around the yard, and letting them know that somebody cares.
I think it's
really important for them and it's really important for us.
You know when I first moved into this house and I was in better health,
I did all this stuff myself. And it was
quite a chore for me when I was in good health.
A lot of it's
just impossible for me at this point. But
I can't really put into words how much this is appreciated.
It means,
the world
expressing the sidewalk.
Because, I've lived here for 30 years
and I've need a sidewalk
for basically, for probably
27 years of that.
Because it makes it hard,
to roll across the grass, and when it rains, it's like rolling across a muddy sea.
Community Housing Partners
is focused on really trying to get out there and help people have better
living situations and improve their living conditions. It's important for our
company. It's important for us as individuals. And most importantly, it's
important for the homeowner.
We don't like being known
as just
the big box store.
We like to be,
forefront in our community. To go out and to do what we can to help our customers.
to help out our relationships with our community our local
businesses and everything. So we can just be more involved within the community
instead of just being just that store.
It's another way for us to say thank you.
Our mission in the end is to help people.
And I think, by going out and doing some
direct service
and contributing more tangiblly,
we're able to see the impact that we have on others' lives.
