for those are you feeling used and abused by American Internet Service
Provider some relief might be on the way I'm talking about a bill called the
consumer choice in online video act
it's been submitted by a democratic senator jay rockefeller
and aims to fight back against a variety of different ways that I S p's are
overcharging consumers
and trying to block out rival online video sources
or services and so we got three different parts of this that we can talk
about very briefly and then we're gonna respond because obviously
is that the lot in store for us as we are an online video service
%uh the first is that they're gonna make it illegal to block to greater
otherwise impair any content provided by an online video distributor
or provide benefits in the transmission of the video content at any company
affiliated with the internet service providers who specialized services or
other means
which basically means that they're gonna make it so that but I speak and just say
oh your YouTube were cutting
the band with that YouTube goes our people by 50 percent at night
or if we don't like Hulu or we don't like Netflix biscuit to make a lot
harder for them to discriminate against the services
furthermore let me ask each other with bill for example would be the incentive
for
I'll make people understand why this would ever happen why would somebody
ever slow down you too
why would somebody ever slow down Netflix what's the advantage to that
company
to do that to argue there are a couple %uh there at least two main advantages
one is that at peak hours Netflix Hulu YouTube and things like that
that's the majority of all internet traffic and 48 the
ISP's to keep up with all that traffic which is just surging over the past few
years
they would have to make major infrastructure improvements that they
don't wanna make because extremely expensive
if you lower people's access to it you lower what band with his require
you need to make those improvements in infrastructure okay with that that's it
that's an honest reason that lee et it better
so you get then you might say hey listen shin and put pressure on because the
center
but the other issue ben is that Comcast might wanna
a or horizon might wanna competing
with and they all can be with each other to some degree but they might want to
compete with Netflix in which case they say well you have Netflix is gonna be
really slow
if you have my product it's going to be really fast and
once the alright are allowed to go down that road then they can say
well those Young Turks have been a total pain in our *** with all their
you know anti-corporate talk or whatever it is or the blaze Glenn Beck things
happening in our as
with their crazy conspiracy theories whatever it is when a slow them down a
little bit
right and the guys who are pro whatever their
agenda happens to be used to me just make more money those are going to speed
up
so that's a lot of power over the Internet to give
specific companies that's what jay rockefeller rival China
prevent here and you don't have to be a rockefeller to help a fellow exactly but
in this case here's
we gotta go get for that but a
but also one final thing is it's a form of likes or to digital extortion they
say oh Netflix your use up a lot of our band with we're gonna cut you unless you
pay us a huge amount of extra money in this next contract we signed
right so they're trying to get paid both by people who want faster connections
because
hopefully I'll Netflix is going so slow but also directly from the video
providers
so there's that there's also a you probably very familiar with data caps at
this point you do any torrenting are bearing the Netflix
so he goes on to say that usage-based billing systems commonly known as data
caps may not be used in a way that deters competition
from unaffiliated online video distributors that may be in competition
with the ISP or its affiliates services
and so basically you can't just have someone's entire internet like usage for
the month be taken up by a couple
Netflix videos or something like that through that and finally
com in terms the having for truth in pricing like normal your
you're signed up for contract on his online ISP's and they'll say oh you're
happy fifty dollars a month and then you get your bill at sixty-five seventy
dollars
I it's impossible to find out ahead of time what it's actually an ABI
so he says the ISP's would have to tell consumers before they purchase services
with the actual monthly charge will be including all fees and costs associated
with the internet service
you look great i think is great what's great about this among other things Jay
Rockefeller's
seventy-six years old well that's a rather this story
he's not gonna run for office again so a
normally when I see something like this a good
love like hey could you do the right thing love it right and then also
like in the recent pro-choice bill that blew up also the democrats before they
know that psychopaths the house
sometimes and I don't know who my father but sometimes I do just to raise money
right I look at all the wonderful things I do for you progressives
when a raise money on a run again yada yada rockefellers now running and he
really means it
yeah like this is something you want to get done before he leaves office
and I think it's a great bill in eighteen different ways I mean on the
last image on mention
take the gotta tell you if your gonna come in with a bill for eight hundred
and eighteen dollars here
by go sorry you did one too many Netflix movies I
and I wanna be in this much hope you like The Expendables 2
it was six hundred dollars alright yeah and that's what is to prevent
and the great irony here is that it's Rockefeller who I understand
through the internet plans to kill ninety percent of us
along with the Rothschilds ok that's not a conspiracy
my didn't look the rockefellers the russians they're they're going old
school
yes so there there are also a number of other provisions of the bill 64 pages
long
now we don't know at this point it's going to be able to pass apparently
there's a lot of opposition from people are getting huge amounts of money from
the people who are trying to throttle
water into you see is is you know and I'll they'll always find a way but
what's that argument
gonna be like what you're given gonna be to your constituents and your
restricting free markets ability to determine the price of things and blah
blah blah
Liberty my an array and my something plumbing something
yeah others that but also in at just below the credit to John McCain in this
order an indication that the trouble that they might have been passing as
John McCain
has recently been pushing for an ability to on
make it so that your your TV services that bundled so if you want to be
leaving just by HBO
be just one ESPN just by ESPN and apparently he's it's been impossible
from the past that
so that's a good bill by McCain yeah a lot of people don't want the 500
packages
to five hundred channels that paper all at five hundred channels right
the cable companies a couple pics a pic I
so that it is a very different is a very different issue I mean I like that issue
I guess but I understand why
you wouldn't want to split everything apart would also kill a lot of chapter
what
yeah it still looks channel should be killed if you let the market
because I don't wanna energy channel killed I think that every TV channel
should lift
brown life is great with more TV chips yeah
and the neighboring per I
