Now I do want to say one little bit about this base part of this bowl. The lip will
always dry faster as it's drying in the air, and this will stay more moist. But if you
feel this throughout the process and it's starting to get close to the leather hard
state, you want to go ahead and take a moist sponge and rub around the bottom of that bowl
as it dries because you are going to need this to still be pliable and to be able to
move with your fingers. So now that I've got these connected, I'm going to add quite a
bit of moisture there, and I'm pushing up from the inside with my left hand. And I'm
pushing towards the center with my right. And it's slowly pulling what was laying down
up into a straight position.
And now that I've got it pulled up, I'm going to take my hard rib, and I'm just going to
define that shoulder a little bit more. And I'm just using my left hand to stabilize that
as I push against it with the rib in my right hand. And then once I've got the shoulder
shaped the way that I want, I like to add just a little detail to the rib. And I did
that by pushing my thumb, the back side of my thumb in towards that neck. It just defines
the rim. And I seem to enjoy a defined fine rim. So now I'll show you the two little knobs
that I'm going to place on the side to finish this pot off.
