Hello everyone, I'm Scott Price from HUMAN Healthy Vending
and I am here today speaking with José Javier Alvarez,
José Javier Alvarez Director of Marketing, Public Relations, and Recruitment
at the Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola.
-How are you today? -Fine, thanks, and you?
Fine, thank you. I want to begin with the question:
What was your vending program like before HUMAN?
Basically, what we had in terms of vending was a machine full of soft drinks and water.
There wasn't anything in terms of potato chips or snack bars; Nothing like that.
You needed to buy those types of food in the cafeteria.
The only thing we had in terms of vending was soft drinks and water.
And why did you change over to healthy vending?
When we at the school were presented with the idea of this vending machine
one that has organic and healthy products
we thought that it was a tremendous idea. We began to promote to the students that
good health and nutrition is really important. We try to teach that at our school.
And personally, I’m a person that’s changed my nutritional habits to eat healthy, organic food.
We believed that this transition was important in the school,
to create leaders in healthy lifestyles of which I am an example.
Little by little we’re teaching our students to eat better, and this machine helps with that.
And why human specifically?
Well, for the mission of the company; for the mission of HUMAN.
For giving a certain part of their profits to charities.
Also, for only selling organic products… healthy products that are low in fat.
It's important to set an example and help motivate the students,
well not just the students--but the faculty as well--to change to nutritious habits.
In the United States and Puerto Rico, the tendency
to live an unhealthy lifestyle is quickly growing.
This machine helps us move towards a better lifestyle for everybody.
Once machine arrived, what was the installation process like?
I remember that day when it arrived. All of the students were really excited
and really attracted to it and they wanted to know,
“What is this? How does it work? What does it do?”
It was awesome because there were literally 80 or 90 students around the machine.
And what do the students and faculty think
of the flavor and the price of the products in the HUMAN machine?
They are all rather pleased. The short of it is the products are economically priced
economically priced and you’re paying for good health.
Of course, you can find products that are cheaper, but they're not as healthy.
And we believe in promoting this type of healthy food to the boys.
And I'm telling you, every day there are always
a bunch of students and faculty in front of the machine
buying drinks and organic foods. The response of the students has been great.
I always see people in front of the machine, even if it's just playing with the cool buttons!
What is your favorite part of the machine?
For me, personally, I like the fact that you don’t need to bring cash to use the machine.
I usually only carry a credit card,
so I can purchase items in the morning or in the afternoon…whenever.
Only once did the product not vend properly.
The machine worked in a way, though, since
I got my money back right away. I called Angel about the problem
and he came right away to resolve it. So the service has been excellent.
The machine is so easy-to-use
and like I said, it only happened once.
And do you have a favorite product in the machine?
Yeah, for me my favorite product- and the one I usually buy-
is the Clif Banana Honey Nut bar. Is that what it's called? Oh, banana nut crunch.
And how do the sales from HUMAN machine compared to those of the previous machine?
Well, from what I've seen, Angel has to be making
a lot of money, because I oftentimes see him taking money out of the HUMAN machine
way more than the operator of the other machine. So I'd say it's going well.
And one more thing...I'm not sure if you know this yet or not...but we want
to present you with an award in “Leadership in Health Nutrition and Education.”
“Leadership in Health Nutrition and Education.” Congratulations!
I'm not sure if you can see it from here.
Yes I see it
Thank you so much.
This is so important because it is a part of our mission at our school:
To develop and promote a healthier life and a sustainable world.
This machine has been a part of that.
And, little by little, we hope
that this mission will translate to the students to live healthier lifestyles themselves.
We don’t just want that for our school,
but for everyone. Thank you. Thank you so much!
