Hi YouTube, This is GeekTeen2. Today I'm going to review the Motorola Xoom.
I'm also going to review the operating system, Android Honeycomb, since probably most of
you don't have it. Being in Canada, I've never seen anyone else
with a Honeycomb tablet. At the front here, you have a nice big 10.1
inch display. That's a bit bigger than the 9.7 inch displays on the iPads.
So then, you have a front facing camera, right there. If it was an iPad, it would be right
there. Here it's meant for if the screen's in a horizontal
position. On the iPad it's better when the screen's in a verticle position.
Down here, you have the ports. Micro-USB, for data transfer. Micro HDMI,
for video output. Those are for charging when you have the charging dock, which I don't
have. Right there. That's a hole for charging with the cable.
You have a very nice bicoloured back. This is dark grey brushed aluminum. It's very scratch
resistant. The M for Motorola. This part is black rubber. Rubbery plastic I should say.
The speakers are at the back. There's one. The other one is there. There's a button for
turning it on and off, the power button. That's a flashlight, and that's the rear-facing camera.
The headphone jack is here at the top, which you may find wierd. Micro-SD card slot. Don't
put the SD card in the wrong slot. It's hard to take it out.
Over there, there's volume control. It's fairly thick and heavy compared to today's
newest tablets, but it feels fine when I have two hands on it. It feels heavier when I just
have one hand. Here's a camera quality comparison. Over here,
the Xoom is the best. This is a closeup. Here's a picture that's more far out. There's
less difference here. And now, here's a front-facing camera comparison.
The Xoom's not so good here. This is how you unlock on Android Honeycomb,
by default. Here's one of the five homescreens. I have
5 but I haven't used them all yet. This is a widget to show some YouTube video's
that I might like.
Those are some app shortcuts. There's a music player widget, but I don't have any songs
to play. GMail widget, calendar widget. These are some
bookmarks widgets. It brings me directly to websites I like like Rotten Tomatoes.
I have Pulse, which is a nice app for news.
There are settings. You have all these settings here.
The browser's nice.
You can save bookmarks and stuff. And it also has, a really good YouTube app.
The Xoom is a very good tablet for it's time. It's definetely better than the original iPad.
Even though the front-facing camera isn't great it's better than no camera's.
Maybe about equal to the second iPad, because it has worse hardware but better software.
Android Honeycomb is a really good operating system. Of course, it's probably not as good
as the newer Galaxy Tabs, or probably not the next generation Xooms, but I really recomend
getting a Honeycomb tablet, if you want a tablet.
