Hi Seekies!
Oh.. I am thrilled that Jes
had his first RN interview at hospital yesterday.
It well pretty well.
As you know which he will graduate this June 20th
from nursing school which then that means
he will be ready for RN job, of course.
So he applied for the job here.
It's interesting that when they interviewed Jes, they looked
at his resume then asking if he knows ASL.
Jes replied yes.
They said how cool it is because there are several
Deaf patients who come here at the hospital sometimes
where they get stuck like at last minute that interpreter couldn't come
or whatever, such as hard to find one, etc.
So.. it's like perfect and easy to have a nurse to be able to communicate one on one
to check on or whatevfer with questions and such.
Rather than trying to find an interpreter and all that
and also rather than a three way and whatever.
So it's good for Jes to know ASL which easier to communicate,
that is big positive. I was thinking, oh that's right
which I remember when I went to hospital,
they were unable to find an interpreter around, it was hard.
Or sometimes with having an interpreter where they couldn't understand medical terms
such like asking how to spell it, etc.
It wasn't easy so with Jes, it is much easier to communicate
because he already knew all that so again, that is a big positive.
Maybe that helps for him getting a job there so he can able to communicate
with Deaf patients.
Jes applied for these two positions which 3 people already
applied for so we will wait and see. We will find out.
But anyways, I think it's great to have nurses with ASL skills.
It's cool.
