Hi! I'm Kay and we are filming for expertvillage.com here at Carter's Appliance in Fontana, California.
The ice is produced by a unit that is independent in the refrigerator or located in the freezer.
This Maytag French door model, the ice production is right here in the ice machine and this
is a independent unit. It has a hole here which accesses to the shoot, so the ice will
drop through the shoot in this door and then can be easily dispensed here with this paddle
on the door. Some units though have independent ice makers that are located inside the freezer
compartment and you just reach in a bin that it usually has where the ice drops down. Once
it is produced, it will drop down into the bin and you can access the ice independently.
There is typically two styles of ice that are going to be produced; either crushed or
cubed. It depends on what the forms are inside of the ice maker unit itself whether it is
a half moon or a square or a small cube.
