FOR EACH LETTER OF SPECTACLE,
WRITE SOMETHING THAT RELATES TO SPECTACLE.
AND WHAT I WROTE IS, "SPECTACLE"--
- "SIGHT TO SEE."
- "A PLAY/PERFORMANCE."
- "EXCITING, EMOTIONALLY INVOLVED."
- "CREATIVE, CURIOUS."
- FOR "T," IT'S "TRAGEDY."
FOR "A," IT'S "ACTION."
- "CONNECTED WITH THE AUDIENCE."
- "LOOK AND LISTEN."
- "AND ENTERTAINMENT."
AND I THINK WE REALLY DID ENTERTAIN PEOPLE.
- I HADN'T HEARD OF AN ACROSTIC POEM BEFORE BEFORE THIS,
SO IT DID TEACH ME AND, LIKE, MADE ME--MY WRITING BETTER.
- USUALLY, PEOPLE CAN'T WRITE
BECAUSE THEY HONESTLY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING.
THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PASSION TO DO IT.
BUT IF, LIKE--THESE TEACHERS THAT I'VE HAD THIS YEAR--
YOU KNOW, "YOU'RE DOING THIS."
YOU KNOW, AND IT WASN'T, LIKE, SOMETHING
THAT YOU DIDN'T WANT TO DO
LIKE, "GO PICK UP GARBAGE IN THE BLEACHERS
WHILE EVERYBODY ELSE IS DOING THE PLAY."
IT WAS MORE LIKE, YOU KNOW,
"GET OUT THERE AND SING YOUR HEART OUT,"
AND WE'D DO THAT, AND THEN THAT WOULD BE LIKE,
"WOW, YOU KNOW, HE REALLY HELPED ME,"
AND YOU COULD WRITE A LOT ABOUT IT,
BECAUSE YOU WERE JUST, YOU KNOW, SO EXCITED
THAT YOU GOT TO DO SOMETHING.
- I ACTUALLY WROTE ABOUT WHAT I KIND OF LIKED
AND WHAT I KNEW ABOUT MORE
THAN, LIKE, READING OFF OF A BOOK
AND WRITING AN ESSAY ON THAT.
IT KIND OF MAKES US UNDERSTAND THE PLAY MORE
AND LEARN MORE.
- HA, I LEARNED PROBABLY MORE THAN THE AVERAGE BEAR, YOU KNOW?
I MEAN...
- "NOW GO OUT THERE, DO YOUR BEST."
AND THEN YOU WERE JUST LIKE,
"YEAH, I WANT TO WRITE ABOUT THAT."
"I WANT TO DO IT, AND I JUST WANT TO BE
THE BEST I CAN BE AT DOING IT."
- IT DID CHANGE-- ME TO WRITE MORE,
BECAUSE I WAS EXPERIENCED.
I WAS--I WAS, LIKE, ONSTAGE, LIKE, THE WHOLE TIME
EXCEPT FOR PROBABLY SIX SONGS.
IT'S LIKE, "MY GOSH."
- AND THEN WE DID A POEM ABOUT SPECTACLE.
- WE DO POEMS A LOT IN OUR CLASS.
- THIS ONE WE WROTE IN GROUPS OF THREE OR FOUR.
WE WERE WRITING ABOUT EACH PART OF THE PLAY.
LIKE, WHAT EACH PART DID.
- "A SPECTACLE IS A SIGHT TO SEE."
- "IT'S VERY EXCITING TO ME."
- "AS WELL AS EXCITING,
"YOU CAN GET EMOTIONALLY INVOLVED WITH THE PLAY.
WE HOPE IT MADE EVERYONE'S DAY."
- "THE CHARACTERS' ACTING WAS VERY EXCITING.
IT MADE THE PLAY VERY INVITING."
- "THE WHOLE PLAY WAS ARRANGED VERY WELL.
I DON'T KNOW IF THERE WAS ENOUGH"...

"TRAGEDY AND ACTION ARE DIFFERENT THEMES
"THAT MAKE THE PLAY SUPER ENTERTAINING AND GREAT.
"'HORTON HEARS A WHO' CONNECTED WITH THE AUDIENCE,
SINCE SAVING THE WHOS WAS HIS FATE."
- MY MOM LOVED IT,
AND IT WAS EMOTIONALLY INVOLVED WITH HER, SO...
- YEAH, IT WAS JUST A FUN EXPERIENCE FOR EVERYBODY,
AND I THINK IT REALLY, REALLY ENCOURAGED
A LOT OF US TO WRITE MORE.
- THINGS THAT I LIKE TO WRITE ABOUT,
I'LL WRITE A LOT MORE
THAN THINGS THAT I DON'T REALLY--
AND RELATE TO.
- I DON'T KNOW HOW WE GOT ALL THIS DONE.
THIS IS JUST MAYBE, LIKE, 1/4--
A LITTLE BIT LESS THAN 1/4 OF WHAT WE DID.
- AND NOW WE HAVE THIS BOOK TO PERMANENTLY REMIND US
OF THE PLAY AND EVERYTHING WE DID IN SIXTH GRADE.
