In "The Musical Alphabet" Learn module you'll learn about the white keys of the piano
understand the relationship of the musical out that forwards and backwards to pitch
and will begin to understand the relationship
of the musical alphabet forwards and backwards to pitch and direction.
You will be seeing notes with letters in the middle of the then, to indicate the keys that you will be playing.
I'll call these 'alphanotes' as they have alphabet letters inside of them.
You will also learn the concept of meter and time signature and will learn to count in 4/4 time.
We're going to focus on having a nice hand shape when playing on the white keys. You'll need to keep your fingers on consecutive white
keys when playing.
This is called five-finger position and it is important to keep your wrists and fingers relaxed when playing.
You'll also learn about different touches, legato and staccato on the piano and how these touches are indicated in written music.
There are four topics in this module.
The musical alphabet on the white keys of the piano;
hand shape and five-finger position;
time signatures, 4/4 time and metrical counting;
and articulations - legato and staccato.
The assignments within this module consists of watching videos, responding to prompts within the videos, and taking short quizzes.
