Students develop best if they are comfortable.
We were looking for partners that could
change the children’s learning environment.
We were searching for lighting and of course ended up at Philips.
We had heard of the research in Hamburg where they looked at the influence of light
on the behavior, concentration, well-being, and learning results of children.
We were very curious to know if the same thing would stand true for us.
An average school day starts with energy light
during the first 15 minutes and later kicks off the afternoon.
When you enter the classroom and the energy light is on,
you notice you can concentrate better on the lessons.
But if I notice that the children’s energy level is low during reading hour,
I will sometimes put the energy light back on.
It seems like you’re in four different classrooms because of the differences in lighting.
At the beginning of the year, I had parent-teacher conferences after the lights had just been put up.
It was very special to hear parents say that they noticed a difference at home.
Their children seemed to have a bit more energy or were more cheerful,
and they were definitely in a better mood coming home from school.
