The first message is that the region extremely diverse. We see in terms of competitiveness
Slovenia and Montenegro at 45 and 49 out of 130 economies and on the other hand we see
Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia about 102 and 96, so it’s a very diverse region in
terms of competitiveness. But most the countries are within the range of the European Union
meaning they are stronger than the weakest performer in the European Union, which is
actually a positive message. I think in terms of messages going forward, the key strength
of the region as a region, of course implies to different degrees of the countries… are
the relevant high microeconomics stability, label markets are relatively flexible in comparison
to other regions, and relatively high level of education and health in the region. These
are strengths that the country should build on. The challenges to the address; the development
of infrastructure, is a key issue… further developing the market side, so promoting exports
in an important aspect, but I think above all it’s the institutional framework that
will have to be addressed, there many challenges related to the quality of public administration,
the burden of government regulations, the functioning of the court system, protection
of property rights, and the like.
