The materials needed to create your comic book are a computer with Photo Shop. Photo
Shop is needed to color your comic book. You're also going to need the program Illustrator.
Illustrator is for lettering your comic book. You're going to need a scanner. Once the pages
are complete, you're going to have to scan them into your computer to not only color
your comic book, but to letter it. You're going to need a wide variety of pencils with
different types of lead. You're going to need the comic book pages or any type of Bristol
board. They offer comic pages in the correct format, and for beginners, they actually make
pre-paneled pages to help less experienced artists do their story telling, but you're
can just pick up Bristol board at any art supply store, cut it down to the size you
need for your comic book. Depending on your inking preference, you're going to need a
bottle of Indian ink and a wide variety of brushes, and you'll need wider headed brushes
for thicker lines, more narrow brushes for more detail. If you're not comfortable using
the brushes, you'll have a set of ink pens. You'll need Pro White for your mistakes, especially
if you're not comfortable using the brushes. That will come in handy. You'll need a ruler,
a sketch pad to help work out your ideas. My artist, Steve, I know he likes to work
out his panels on the sketch pad first and then transfer them later to the pages, and
you'll need good photo reference; whether it's an anatomy book or doing your own photo
shoots, you're going to need to keep your panels consistent. You're going to want to
have your character look the same panel for panel. So, the photo reference is definitely
needed.
