So I spoke a little bit about this last night
and it’s become really part of the message of the show
and it actually grew out of born this way
but it didn't grew out of this initial material
when I wrote Born This Way I wrote it about all of you I wrote it about our generation
I wrote it about the things that I truly feel about where we are now in our society
but when It came out it was a real test it wasn’t it? It’s a real test to how we’ve grown
is a test to how people view equality and what I wanted to talk to you guys about
and what I like to sort of reflect on to during was part of the show
is the importance of Born This Way
and what I hope and I know you hope in your hearts is that we are not in the same place that we were 25 years ago
when it comes to being Gay
Why do I have to be gay and be a ***? why do I have to be gay and have to slice you to defend myself?
Why if I’m gay do I have to be shady or, or bite you because I want to defend and separate myself from humanity
we're not in that place anymore there's no need to put people down
and I don't feel good when I belittle anyone I don't feel good making people feel bad about themselves
and mocking them or mocking their work so, I just want to show you how powerful you are.
Then after over a year now, Born This Way being out
and a lot of people tried to stop me and they still will, and you know they will
but the truth is It´s not working
and it's not working because it's not relevant anymore to be hateful about equality
is not relevant anymore to be bitter is not relevant anymore to hold on to the past and hold on to the pain or what was
but what is relevant now is to leave that all behind and look forward to a future
where it doesn't matter what you are because we are all human and we all deserve to be valued
and know our value no matter where we are
So that my message is, that of Born This Way is all about
and I couldn’t get two *** about record sales and I honestly don’t get two *** about anyone what they think of me
I don’t wake up in the morning and care if people like me
all I care is that you smile and you feel something when you hear this music.
So, on that note Little Monsters
thank you, thank you for being the powerful, amazing generation that you are
I’m so proud to be your pop star
and I want you to know I don’t ever want to be a Queen so don’t ask me to, don’t call me you queen
I’m you! I’m just one of you, I’m just one of you that works really hard and is speaking the truth
and anyone of you could do it and I truly believe that
so this is about this song is called Hair
And I wrote this song about getting bullied when I was in high school, but I still get bullied. You guys see it.
You know I get bullied all the time
But it doesn't hurt me anymore
and the reason it doesn't hurt me is because I'm free
And while everybody's over there being negative, we're gonna be on G.O.A.T being *** free for the rest of our lives, ok?
And when I, you know, I do a lot activism and what I do everywhere, I do a lot in America
and I just established that, with my mom, The Born This Way Foundation
and The Born This Way Foundation is not about making Money at all
all in fact that is not it means I don’t know goal
the goal of the Born This Way foundation is to spread a new messages
messages and to try to take what the old messages were and make them new again
and, you know When I heard about all the teen suicides this year that were happening
some of them weren't even really teen they were pre-teen I mean 14 isn't really a teen
sorry if you're 14 and you think that I'm taking that away from you
14 is still very young and listen, I wish that I was still fourteen
I'm 8 and 3/4
but you know when I heard about all of this
I spend a lot of time with some of the families who lost their kids
just suicide because they were bullied at school for being Gay or being different
and the reason why I bring this song is because I think to myself
what kind of example is it to those young kids if the way that we, as a community, defend ourselves is by fighting back
be negative and fighting back with negativity because is that exact negativity that drives them to ending their lives
because they don’t know how to fight back maybe them don’t like that maybe they don’t want to be mean
maybe they don't want to be part of who they are.
So I bring this song only because I wanted to see and I hope that you all see
and when you leave tonight you just tell one person about what I spoke about
if you just say, you know, the LGBT community can change now we can be happy and be free
and know that we're equal to you and I don’t have to defend myself. I'm human
And that way when a 14 years old is wondering if they should take your life or not
They'll remember what you said you could be that one person that changes their whole life
You, right there, who's looking me right in the eye I can see you
you could be that one person that changes their life we never know.
I just wanna be free, I just wanna be me
and I want lots of friends that invite me to their parties
don’t wanna change I don’t wanna be ashamed
I’m the spirit of my hair is it's all the glory that I bare
I'm my hair, I am my hair I'm my hair, I am my hair I am my hair
I don’t care of anyone of them
all I care about is you
It’s all the glory that I bare
I don’t wanna you remember this perfect I just wish I could change more person’s life for make them love themselves and if I die tomorrow I don’t give a ***
I am my hair I am my hair
I'm my hair yeah, yeah
hair, yeah, yeah
hair, yeah, yeah
