Hi there! Thanks for viewing! This is my second playthrough of SF II Turbo, the first one being Ken. Next up, the First Lady of Fighting, Chun Li!!
I change the X button from Medium Punch to Hard Punch as I find it awkward and harder to hit the L button while doing special moves and combos.
In the Turbo version, Chun Li gains the ability to throw fireballs and can execute her Spinning Bird Kick while in air.
Oooh, starting with Zangief this time. I often have trouble against him as Chun Li, so it will be good to get him out of the way.
For reasons unknown, you can't throw him at the start of the round as Chun Li. He attacks much sooner for whatever reason.
Since he is always moving towards you, jump straight up and time your kick as he approaches.
Oh crap...
That was close...the action slows down when making two or more hard hits in a row, and your character sometimes won't perform the next attack you want because of it.
Thus allowing them to counter, usually with a throw.
Chun Li's hard kick while jumping straight up in the air knocks down all the time when the opponent is hit while standing, but not if the opponent is airborne as well.
Damn it...
If you hit him in the air too early, the opponent will recover in time to counter and usually with a throw.
That was close. Chun Li's footsweep is surprisingly difficult to connect when the opponent is ducking, use a medium kick instead if you think a hard kick won't connect.
Dhalsim is a much easier opponent to beat. He's slow, his teleport has poor recovery time, and his spinning attacks in the air can easily be countered when he lands.
And he leaves himself vulnerable when doing a Yoga Flame as well.
And when he does footsweeps too.
Like I said, MUCH easier. If I remember right, Dhalsim was a top-tier character in the original version, but if so, he was greatly toned down in this game.
Huh, he started with a teleport. Usually he jumps back at the start of the 2nd round.
Chun Li's fireball takes a 180 degree motion to make, unlike most of the other fighters that only takes 90 degree motions.
One unique thing about Chun Li is she can make multiple attacks in the air with her Head Stomp and Spinning Bird Kick.
That was much easier, but now for another tough foe, the Wandering Warrior Ryu.
Many fanfiction stories often have Chun Li and Ryu as pairings, sometimes Chun Li and Vega as pairings.
A disadvantage of Chun Li is she can't combo well enough to make opponents dizzy, or at least I can't.
Chun Li has a much higher jump than most characters, high enough she can get completely above Ryu and Ken's aerial kicks.
Darn it.
Grrr, I was expecting him to throw another fireball there.
If you time it right, Chun Li can pass right through fireballs the first few frames of doing the Spinning Bird Kick.
Son of a...!
Uh oh...
Damn that was close. And that was just one round...
I was wondering when he was going to jump after me.
I've been trying to do that this whole fight.
Darn it, too early.
Nearly every time Ryu jumps back, he throws a fireball. Trap him in a corner to take advantage of that to take him out much easier.
Bonus stage time!! Smashing a car! Chun Li is probably the best character for this bonus stage.
Damn it, use a MEDIUM Lightning Kick to start. Not Hard.
Then use the Hard Lightning Kicks.
In case you're wondering, no I'm not using a Turbo controller. Otherwise I wouldn't have effed up at the start of the car smashing.
Alright, now for E. Honda!
Use the Zangief strategy to an extent. When Honda is standing still, he'll do two jabs followed by the Hundred Hand Slap. Hit him with a fireball.
Most of the time when he does a spinning footsweep, he'll do a Flying Headbutt.
The Flying Headbutt can be countered with a simple jab, but if you jump straight up to avoid him, you can throw him when gets past you.
Darn. He'll use the Sumo Smash quite often as well, and you can throw him when he lands if you don't have to block it.
Yeesh, glad Honda is wearing some kind of underwear...
When Honda does a crouching Medium Kick then a crouching Short Kick, his next attack will be his Sumo Smash.
Ow...
Wow...JUST barely out of his range that last attack.
Alright, now for the man-beast Blanka! If you aren't careful, he can quickly take you out.
Use the same strategy as Zangief, but if Blanka is walking or jumping backwards, he will do a horizontal or two vertical Beast Rolls.
Huh, surprised he got dizzy there. Usually throws don't help make someone dizzy.
See how it slowed down and my last attack didn't connect? Freaking annoying as hell.
I don't know if the slowdown was intentional or if that happened in the original version as well.
See how the footsweep didn't connect there? If I used a Medium Kick, it would have connected.
This doesn't look good...
Whew, I was out of position there. Couldn't find a good opening to attack.
Well, a win's a win. That's the important thing. Next up is Guile!
Let Guile come to you to attack. If you jump after him without forcing him to block a fireball, he'll make you pay with a Flash Kick.
Damn it, I'm throwing the fireballs too early.
With 1/4 of his health down, he'll start jumping towards you at a certain distance and no longer jumps back after throwing Sonic Booms.
With 1/2 his health down, he'll try to throw you or jump kick you if he moves toward you.
That was close.
Whew, got lucky there.
A jab? Really? I got hit with a jab?
Darn, I guess rushing after him doesn't provide any openings. At least not that time.
I got lucky with that last hit. He was doing a Flash Kick and somehow I didn't get hit from it.
Alright, time to smash some bricks!
Start with a MEDIUM Lightning Kick, then do Hard Lightning Kicks the rest of the way.
Pretty fast, huh? Chun Li is probably the best character for this bonus stage as well.
Alright, now for Ken.
Ken often starts with Hurricane Kicks followed by Shoryukens. Sometimes he'll throw a couple fireballs and THEN do the Hurricane Kicks and Shoryukens.
Other times, he'll do a Jab Shoryuken, followed by a Medium Shoryuken, followed by a Hard Shoryuken. Assuming you don't hit him in between any one.
Ken jumps around a lot, but though he may jump kick you, he never does a footsweep unless you missed using a special move.
I have absolutely no idea what Ken and Ryu say when doing a Hurricane Kick. The move is literally called "Tatsumaki Senpukyaku".
Yep...not much strategy here.
Oh! He changed it up.
Oh crap...
Whew. I forgot Chun Li doesn't have a standing uppercut move. Almost cost me the round there.
And now for the mirror match!! Let's see who's the best me!
Personally, I think Chun Li looks better in blue.
Missed her by THAT much.
Huh, surprised she didn't get dizzy there.
Spinning Bird Kick FAIL...
Despite being her signature attack, the Lightning Kicks are not very good in this game. Easy to counter and she can't move while using it. Can't combo well with it either.
Oh, what the hell!!
Son of a...!
Oh ***...
Whenever Chun Li is just crouching, she will do a wall jump if she's close enough to it.
I'm going to be really cautious the rest of the way...
Hooooly *** that was close...
I'm surprised the last hit counted as I thought time had run out. Thought she was going to throw me the kick before, too.
Haha, were you surprised by that win quote? Chun Li actually has four win quotes. Only two of them can be viewed when Chun Li defeats herself.
The other is "What a wimpy woman. I wonder if there is a much stronger opponent?"
It isn't wise to use the Zangief trick on Balrog. He'll more often than not do a Dashing Uppercut instead of walking towards you.
Damn it, trapped in a corner...
I have you now!!
Balrog is usually dumb character-wise, but he's smart enough to block fireballs while standing. Makes it harder to do any damage to him.
Wow, how did he not hit me there...
It's best to not throw slow fireballs against him. Only one fireball per person can be on the screen and your opponent can take advantage of that if you aren't careful.
That round went a lot better. Hopefully no more close rounds the rest of the way.
Bonus stage time!! Time to smash some barrels!
Oh son of a...! I turned around there you stupid son of a...
GAAAAH!!!
Anyways, now time to face Vega.
Jump after him after knocking him down and he'll often do a backflip. Throw him when he stops.
If he jumps onto the fence, either jump away as he jumps or do a Spinning Bird Kick.
MUCH better. Vega was a cheap-*** in the original version. I had a very hard time beating him on 3-Star Difficulty.
Sagat isn't terribly difficult, just do the Zangief trick for the first 1/4 of his health and then jump towards him as he does the High/Low shots.
If Sagat walks towards you when he has less than 1/2 his health, he'll sometimes jump towards you and do a Tiger Uppercut if he lands right next to you.
Finally...
Rather, rinse, repeat. Despite being an often overpowered character, his AI in this game is pretty weak.
Alright, time to avenge her father!! Your *** is mine, Bison!!
Use the Zangief trick against him but if you find yourself out of position, back away from him.
He'll do the Head Stomp a lot. He does it after getting up; landing from a jump; blocking an attack; and sometimes at the start of the round.
When his health is low, every time he jumps back he'll do a Psycho Crusher. One if fast, two if slow. Rarely, he'll do a Scissor Kick.
If Bison is far enough away when he does his Head Stomp, you can throw him in the air.
Just one more round...!
When Bison WALKS backwards, he will just jump towards you but NOT do a Head stomp.
Oh crap...
Damn it, wrong speed...
Booyah!!!
Whew, had some close calls along the way, but got it done!! Hope you enjoyed the video! Enjoy the credits!!
