"Trick Shots/Intermediate Shots:
Scratching with Style
Hi, I'm Andy the magic man Segal. I'm here at Willow Billiards in Hoboken, New Jersey
doing some trick shots and pool instruction. So if you're ready let's get started.
So what's the one thing you never want to do when playing eight ball? Well, scratch
on the eight. But, if you're going to do it, you might as well do it with a little bit
of style. So we have here the cue ball and the eight ball lined up for the pocket. If
I shoot straight into the cue ball and make the eight and follow it in, that's scratching,
that's boring. What I'm going to do is I'm going to have the cue ball come out to the
left, speed up, pass the eight, curve back, scratch before the eight. Now that will be
scratching with style. The way you hit this, I'm going to hit it with high English and
right English. The high English is going to cause the cue ball to speed up and pass the
eight. The right English when I'm elevated will masait a little causing it to curve around
the eight and scratch into the corner. That's scratching with style."
