This video introduces the use of the touchscreen console
when videoconferencing at the University of the Highlands and Islands.
If you come into the VC room and the console is black,
just give it a tap with your finger and then press the VC Mode button.
The screens will come on and the camera will swing around to face you.
The console is now at the home screen.
You can see the camera picture in the Preview window on the console.
There are arrow buttons and zoom buttons under Camera Control
which enable you to frame yourself within the outgoing picture.
You will see the effect in the Preview window.
The connection may be made by vcMaster but if you have been given a VC shortcode,
press the Dial a Call button which will take you to another screen
where you can enter the five digits followed by the Connect button.
When you're connected, check whether the microphone is on or off.
You'll see an icon on the large screen.
If you see a red button near the top of the console which says 'MicOff',
press that, and it changes to a green button,
indicating the microphone is on.
You can adjust the volume of the incoming audio as shown.
When you wish to present a file from the PC,
press the lecternPC button under Source Select.
Log onto your UHI account in the usual way
and you will have access to files stored on your H: drive or pendrive.
Any type of file may be shared with the videoconference
and most drivers and players are installed on the PCs in the VC rooms.
You could also access your modules on Blackboard
if there are points you need to share with students or colleagues.
You also have access to all the resources available on the internet
but you may need to zoom in on the page using the browser menu if the font is too small.
When the presentation is finished, you can log off the PC,
remembering to switch back to MainCamera by pressing the button under Source Select.
At the end of the videoconference, press the red Disconnect button to hang up and again to confirm.
