Hi this Yolanda Vanveen from vannveenbulbs.com. In this series we're learning how to identify
spring blooming flower bulbs. Because we always plant them in the fall, we put the stick in
front, we intend to keep track of their names, and then they bloom in the spring and we have
no idea what they're named. So we're going to talk about Sir Winston Churchill daffodil.
And that has be one of my ultimate favorite daffodils. Sir Winston Churchill daffodil
smells just like a Paper White, but even better. Oh it's just the most incredible fragrance,
and it's very similar to the Chinese Sacred Lily, and can be forced inside too. It's very
related to the Paper Whites, but it's got a little bit of a yellow center in it, almost
an orange yellow. Which I think if you can have an orange in the spring time you are
going to have a gorgeous garden. Because it makes you believe that summer's really coming,
because most orange flowers bloom in the summer. Lots of oranges in the summer, but very few
in the spring. So some of my favorite spring blooming flowers actually have orange in them.
And they are easy to identify because they look like a Paper White, they just have lots
and lots of blooms on them. And the smell, it's got to be one of the best smells in the
whole world. If I could package that fragrance up, I think I would be a zillionaire. But
it's just a beautiful, beautiful daffodil, and of course, my husband's English and there's
no greater man ever than Sir Winston Churchill. So just to have a plant in your garden in
honor of someone that you think was really a good person, is always a bonus. Next we'll
talk about another beautiful daffodil, the Tahiti.
