A naltrexone tablet is generally very available, it can be prescribed by any physician you
do not have to have sort of a special waiver like you would for the buprenorphine. It can
be prescribed by a psychiatrist, by a primary care doctor. In terms of the injection I think
our clinic is one of the very few, it’s a general hospital based and part of a comprehensive
substance abuse clinic here and we provide to urban population here -- services to an
urban population as well as the community. We have links with the community that we have
referrals. So in terms of the injection I have to say it’s not probably very accessible.
There are some insurance issues that get into the way, the transportation of this medication
is problematic for the most part, has been. We worked out sort of a way to deal with these
details but it took us awhile to get this program going, the naltrexone injection clinic
here.
