and you are?
I’m Philippe
Nice to meet you.
I’m Alyssa
Alyssa, you have a very nice name!
Thank you
Thank you!
Thank you
And you?
I’m Edna
Hello Edna,
Hello Philippe,
Hello Alyssa.
Nice to meet you all.
Nice to meet you.
I've been to Israel a couple of times. I have a son
who lives there. He's married and has a daughter
and I promised my granddaughter that this summer
she can come to New York and we'll speak in Hebrew.
I’m from Israel.
Where are you from?
I’m from California.
Philippe, How about you?
I’m...
I’m from... here.
Philippe is from France.
France?
Paris is in France,
Jerusalem is in Israel,
Paris is in France.
Right, France.
One...
Two.
Hello,
Hello Edna, How are you?
Excellent,
How are you doing?
Thank you, excellent
And Alyssa, how are you?
Great...Sababa (Hebrew slang)
Very good, Excellent
Hebrew online is perfect for my lifestyle. I don't even
have to leave the house and I get this
incredible Hebrew lesson once a week, taught by a
dynamite Hebrew teacher. And my Hebrew is really,
really, really improving. Actually, I've had this friend
who's been trying for years to learn Hebrew.
She even uped and went to Israel for a year to learn Hebrew,
but guess who's been learning
for only four months and is really way ahead of her!
On Sunday,
I went skiing in Monte Blanc.
That’s right,
Philippe sent me pictures by e-mail
Here is Philippe skiing.
Philippe,
Where are you in the picture?
Here, Here
I’m over...here
For me it's very important to learn Hebrew with a good teacher,
for whom Hebrew is the mother tongue.
I'm not a big computer guy, so, naturally, the idea of learning
Hebrew on the internet intimidated me a little at first,
but now I have to admit that the computer programme
of the course is very easy and user friendly.
I'm even writing to my friends in Israel now,
on the internet, in Hebrew!
Today we’re traveling in Jerusalem
Yes Alyssa
I love Jerusalem.
Yes...
Jerusalem is a beautiful & special city
I too love Jerusalem.
To speak Hebrew, to read in Hebrew, to be able to read
and understand the Torah ... that for me is truly a dream come true.
Now we’ll read some dialogue.
Alyssa, you’ll be
a woman from Jerusalem
and Edna you’re a tourist
All right?
What’s a tourist?
Tourist, he has a visa, a passport
Ah Yes, Ok.
Hello, are you from around here?
Yes, How can I be of help?
How do I get to the Western Wall?
You take...
bus lumber One
number, bus number One
Number One.
You know, I think that there's a real benefit to learning
Hebrew online, even beyond the convenience factor.
Each class is recorded and saved so that
I can always check it out afterwards.
and if I have a question or problem or my homework is unclear,
I always have the option of chatting with my teacher online.
You know, um, I'm just getting a great deal more
from this course than I ever imagined that I would.
Here’s the Western Wall,
Who can tell me
what we see at the Western Wall?
People place little notes in the wall.
Excellent, very good.
People are praying.
What are people praying for?
For peace.
for health,
and for love.
At home you will write a letter
about a trip to Jerusalem,
You’ll send me the letter via e-mail.
and also learn the new words.
You’re excellent students.
Thank you so much.
Have a good week & see you soon!
